The real and original Purple Kush clone that came to me from the west coast of America hit the Canadian market like an atomic bomb. In my 20 years in the cannabis genetics game, I have never seen a strain dominate the market for as long and as much as this one. At one point, pounds were selling for $3500-3600, and ounces hit up to $350 in some areas at certain times of the season—prices reminiscent of the 1990s that are unheard of in BC nowadays. Even Maple Ridge Kush remains around $3100-3300 year-round, regardless of market saturation.

I remember being in Winnipeg for Christmas in 2007 and receiving offers of $125 per quarter ounce, sparking an incredible kush craze in the prairies. Before it reached BC and got modified or selfed, it was an OG Kush x Purple Afghani. I possess the original cut, not the weaker S1s and imitations from Surrey, Maple Ridge, and elsewhere.

This strain is regularly cropped by many growers at 45 days but shows a dramatic difference when left until 60 or 70 days, which I respect. Its aroma combines grapes, coffee, earth, road kill, and a powerful fuel scent, especially noticeable on the stalk. The effects provide more body than just an OG Kush, due to its Afghani lineage, which also enhances yields and quickens the cropping process for those preferring to harvest her at 42-56 days, especially in rockwool systems.

The taste is slightly drier than the aroma but can be nearly as rich and full when grown organically, which I strongly recommend for those seeking medical marijuana or effective pain relief solutions. I have used four males to outcross her, including MK Ultra, Med-Man's Headband, Tahoe OG Kush, and an OG Kush from seed sourced from California.

I chose the best one, and I'm now finished with my BX2s and ready to begin the IBL process. It shouldn't take long; all BX1s germinated at 75% PPK, making it straightforward to select quality plants even in veg. Once completed, this will be the purest Purple Kush available to my knowledge, retaining everything the elite mother possesses, plus added vigor from seed.

Be cautious of high PPM and humidity levels, as Afghanis do not thrive in soggy mediums.

This cannabis clone was a random gift from a friend. I got it because the clone shop in Langley, BC, was ending her stint due to dissatisfaction with the yield or the 'look' of the color—strange. I received her as 'OG Kush', just like 75% of all biker kush strains are named, lol. She was very unique: short, small, and with a lower yield, but the resin and the effect were insane for my pain relief solutions. Definitely one of the more interesting cannabis genetics I've encountered.
